1. To promote sustainable mobility through the use of non-motorised transport and public transport, by establishing partnerships with organisations involved in non-motorised transport.
Evidence: Nearly 90 per cent of visitors travel to Big responsibly, using sustainable transport (trains, public transport, cycling). Over the past three years, Big has been establishing partnerships with organisations committed to sustainable transport.
20 shuttle bikes are available to visitors; in 2025, 150 journeys were made, thereby preventing 100kg of CO₂ emissions.
78 journeys in hydrogen-powered taxis were made thanks to Hype.
2. To safeguard the health and wellbeing of our stakeholders by ensuring a safe and clean worksite for our technicians, and by, amongst other things, analysing indoor air quality and taking appropriate measures.
Evidence: To ensure the wellbeing of all stakeholders at Big, an indoor air quality management scheme has been in place for the past two years. Thanks to the measurements taken and the various measures put in place to monitor it, a reduction in headaches has been observed, particularly amongst the technical teams.
This year, a dedicated breastfeeding room will be set up for any mums who need it.
3. Promoting better community life: accessibility, inclusion, social mix, equality and diversity, and the provision of a breastfeeding room
Evidence: Big strives to achieve the fairest possible gender balance; over 40 per cent of the speakers were women.
Last year, 1,000 young people also attended to discover the world of entrepreneurship.
The facilities at the Accor Arena and Big’s layout enable the event to accommodate people with disabilities (with access ramps and dedicated parking areas). The content and talks are also adapted (live talks, with subtitles and real-time translation).
4. Reduce the number of promotional items handed out at the event and offer an alternative with products from the Big Boutique, which are the result of traditional craftsmanship and made in France
Evidence: Since its creation in 2020, Bpifrance’s Big Boutique has had a simple aim: to showcase French craftsmanship through meaningful objects.
Over the years, the Big Boutique has become a space that showcases French brands with diverse histories and backgrounds.
5. Reducing the use of single-use plastic
Evidence: Bpifrance is committed to reducing plastic use by providing reusable cups next to water dispensers to minimise waste. Furthermore, the badge holders, which were originally made of plastic, have been replaced with cardboard ones.
6. Prioritise responsible catering using local, seasonal produce and vegetarian options
Evidence: For the past two years, the “A table” food court at Big has been offering a varied and balanced diet, with over 34 per cent of the menu consisting of vegetarian options. Dishes are prepared to order, enabling the business to manage workflow and stock levels accordingly. Thanks to this system, 99.7 per cent of meals have been consumed, thereby minimising waste.
7. Rent, reuse or recycle furniture and signage
Evidence: Big is committed to a circular economy approach by promoting the reuse of these materials:
93.39% of equipment is hired (an increase of 10% compared with 2024). The proportion of purchased equipment has fallen by 65% and that of bespoke items by 72%.
17 tonnes of materials are recycled and transformed into new items; for example, tarpaulins from set designs are turned into pouches. The wooden battens used in the structures will be used to create vegetable gardens, thanks to the La Sauge charity.
8. Manage waste more effectively by providing recycling bins for each of the waste streams identified at the event
Evidence: To facilitate waste management, Big is rolling out more than 100 sorting stations comprising three waste streams (plastics, cardboard/paper and other waste) for visitors. This system has also been implemented in the technical area.
Consequently, between 2024 and 2025, the total volume of waste was reduced by 55 per cent (falling from 15.4 tonnes in 2025 to 27.8 tonnes in 2024).
10. Measure Big’s CSR impacts using the carbon footprint assessment carried out and raise awareness amongst all stakeholders regarding environmental responsibility
Evidence: Thanks to its commitments, its stakeholders, concrete actions and refined data collection, nearly 600 tonnes of CO₂ were avoided at Big in 2025.
9. Limit the use of paper by providing digital documents, whilst taking into account the principles of responsible digital use
Evidence: A responsible digitalisation strategy has been implemented by making all information accessible via its website, email campaigns, its app and the Bpifrance Kiosk. As digital technology also generates CO₂ emissions, Bpifrance has revised its email policy, reducing the volume of emails sent by 70 per cent.
