At the heart of our economy, money and payments have become major geopolitical issues. As payment solutions go digital, Europe is increasingly dependent on non-European players, while private assets such as stablecoins threaten the central role of central banks. Faced with these risks, the digital euro represents a strategic response to reinforce European monetary sovereignty.

L'euro numérique est un projet de la Banque de France et de la BCE visant à offrir une alternative européenne aux grands réseaux de paiement internationaux. Il vise à garantir la confidentialité des transactions, à standardiser les procédures d'acceptation des paiements et à préserver la souveraineté monétaire. L'euro numérique ne sera pas rémunéré et ne sera pas un outil de politique monétaire. Il sera purement numérique, offrant une fonctionnalité de paiement hors ligne pour assurer la confidentialité. L'Europe encadre les stablecoins pour garantir leur solidité et leur convertibilité en euros, tout en cherchant à offrir une alternative européenne aux stablecoins adossés au dollar.
