Scientific advances are paving the way for increasingly humane healthcare: enabling women who have undergone a mastectomy following breast cancer to regenerate their breasts using their own cells. This is the ambition of Healshape, led by six co-founders who are developing a natural, resorbable, and customizable breast bioprosthesis using 3D bioprinting. From idea to patent to fundraising, this project illustrates the demanding path of entrepreneurship in healthcare. It also reveals the challenges of disruptive innovation, faced with a complex regulatory framework and numerous uncertainties. But beyond the technology, Healshape is above all a collective adventure guided by a mission: to develop natural solutions for the reconstruction of human tissue.
