Circular economy: what are the challenges for tomorrow's fashion?

Oct 6, 2022 | 2:00 PM CEST - 3:00 PM CEST

Description

25% of clothes remain unsold, less than 1% of products are recycled into new clothes and production volumes are expected to continue to increase by almost 3% per year by 2030. Given these parameters, it is imperative to act. One promising way for the fashion industry to reduce its environmental impact is to implement circular models and thus make progress on the 'four Rs': Reuse, Reduce, Repair and Recycle. But the challenges of scaling up these models are immense. Generalisation of eco-design (sustainability, traceability and recyclability of products, new industrial standards and training), reduction of production waste, profitability of new uses (second-hand, rental and new logistics models), development of collection, sorting and recycling capacities, partnership logics... an overview of the challenges to be addressed by the industry in order to truly enter the era of "circular fashion".
