Food sovereignty: how can businesses and innovation contribute?

Oct 6, 2022 | 3:30 PM CEST - 4:30 PM CEST

Description

The Ukrainian crisis has brought the imperative of food sovereignty into sharp focus. Dependence on imports of proteins, oils, seafood products, etc., is a vulnerable factor for our food security. Europe and the other major world powers have understood this and have made it a strategic geopolitical issue. This issue of economic and social importance is also important from an ecological point of view, since the import of proteins or palm oil contributes to the deforestation of tropical forests and the cost of transport is not insignificant. In France, plant protein, insect, aquaculture and biofertiliser companies are developing innovative solutions to reduce our dependence on foreign markets and contribute to our food autonomy.
