Description
At the age of 22, Féris Barkat is a major figure in French climate and social activism. Originally from Strasbourg, he left the London School of Economics to train his generation in climate issues. Co-founder of the Banlieues Climat association, he defends an emancipatory ecology and brings a new social perspective to climate issues, reaching audiences that are generally invisible to these struggles: young people from working-class neighborhoods and, more broadly, marginalized minorities. Féris is helping to build a fairer world via several levers: popular education, with the opening of a school in Saint-Ouen, and culture. He mixes art and political message, as demonstrated by his latest actions: the fresco projected on the National Assembly (between the two rounds of the last legislative elections) or the mobilization of a 3-meter canvas with 50 mothers at the Palais de Tokyo, where he was appointed to the board of directors of the endowment fund. Féris also fights his battles on social networks, federating a community of over 219,000 followers. Acclaimed in the press (Le Monde, Konbini, Quotidien...), winner of numerous awards and recognitions (30 Under 30 Vanity Fair, Talent of Tomorrow Konbini, 30 Leaders Les Echos Start...), Féris is today establishing himself as an influential and credible voice for creating a new narrative on engagement.
