You feel good, you're fulfilled, you know why you came to earth, if only for a moment of reason. That's not joy, it's something else. It's confidence, but in yourself. It's silent and soothing. It's the intimate strength that comes from a sense of honor and challenge, pride. Pride, all the more powerful for not expressing itself. Pride, self-esteem and, by extension, the self-esteem of the group to which we belong. It's the only way, as the moralist would say, to put up with ourselves. Pride is important! It's important to live in a country we're proud of, it's important to have victories to our credit.
