What future for nuclear power?

Oct 7, 2021 | 5:00 PM CEST - 6:15 PM CEST

Description

Nuclear energy is facing major technical and economic challenges at a time when its advantages in terms of CO2 emissions are increasingly being put forward to achieve carbon neutrality for our economy in 2050. This round table will address the future of the nuclear industry, which is receiving significant support under the recovery plan, and will focus on its entire value chain: skills, optimisation of fuel supply and consumption, major refurbishment, development of new reactors (Small Modular Reactor (SMR), Micro Modular Reactor (MMR), Generation IV fast neutrons), storage, recovery and reuse of very low-level radioactive waste and metals, and dismantling of the fleet. The short and medium term challenges of the sector will be put into perspective with those of the longer term, such as the development of nuclear fusion.
