How do the Important Projects of Common European Interest (PIEEC) contribute to the development of low-carbon hydrogen in Europe?

Description

In September 2020, France unveiled a plan to support the development of decarbonized hydrogen worth 7.3 billion euros over ten years. This very ambitious plan marks a turning point in the French government's desire to promote the production and use of decarbonized hydrogen in industry, where it is mainly consumed today, and in mobility, where it could contribute to strongly decarbonizing the sector by 2030. This plan, which aims in particular to develop local low-carbon hydrogen ecosystems, is part of a European dimension through a section dedicated to the support and financing of Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), which aim to promote collaboration between European countries in the fields of decarbonization of industry and mobility in particular. This masterclass will be an opportunity to discover the European strategy (and its intricacies) for the development of decarbonized hydrogen, the philosophy of these major European projects and how they are implemented in the Member States.
